STAGE 16 - CARRIóN DE LOS CONDES to LéDIGOS
Today was one of THOSE days when you walk and walk and walk and not much changes. We left early to take advantage of the cool morning. When I turned around to take a picture of the bridge leading out of the city, I was surprised by this beautiful sunrise...
Later I got this view...
Then it was eyes forward and onward to our next destination. From this point forward (about eight miles) we are on a straight (really straight) path that goes through really flat landscape made up of fields of canola.
For a couple of miles we follow the highway and then we turn off onto what used to be a Roman road.
At this point we were officially 400 kilometers (248.5 miles) from Santiago de Compostela. So far we have walked 219 miles. Tomorrow we will cross the halfway mark just outside of Sahagún! Yeah!!!
Shortly before we hit a few hills we found some color. This is canola in bloom.
I am glad that today is done. Jannette is very proud of me. I didn't complain one bit (unlike our walk along this same stretch in 2023!)
We are now resting in a beautiful little hotel in a very small town.
